There is only one search engine today that you may want to submit your web site to manually, and that is Google. You should only submit the front and map page of the web site and let search engine robot crawl through your web site naturally. It is very important to not submit your web site more then once a week.
If you have a link to your web site that already listed in google, it will find and add it to its database quicker and you may get a higher ranking.
That’s is all to say that you shouldn’t submit your web site to other search engines, it just happens that Google seems to be a most effective.
You rather want to spend your time and money submitting your web site into a directories such as DMOZ and Yahoo.
Bottom line is don’t pay for mass search engine submission. Chances are it won’t bring you traffic at all. Just put your best effort in having links from web sites, particularly from those that are already in Google.
Then more links you have going IN your site then higher ranking you’ll get in google.
